Funny being an intern

So about a week or two ago, the Academy posted up a press release of us interns. It basically talked about how we were the interns for this summer.

Last week on Monday, my boss comes down from her office telling me that I need to call the Academy’s communications director, Leslie. I needed to talk to the Leslie because the Chinese Daily News wanted to interview me.

So I gave a call to Maggie at the Chinese Daily News, and did the interview. And a couple days later, it was published in the paper. :)

Pretty funny.

So I’m now at AMPAS interning and while looking at one of the project files, specifying the requirements of the system they’re building, it read:

The system should have the ability to move content at the fastest speed possible

and the comments afterward read:

Today I was reading a report on PREMIS since we’re using some elements for the project I’m working on at AMPAS. The report mentioned the LA Times and sounded familiar. I was curious to who had written the report, and it ends up it was my professor last quarter in for IS 289-2 Digital Preservation, Victoria Mccargar.

No wonder!

It was an interesting to know that years later, we still have yet to provide a one-click solution to all the world’s metadata/digital preservation issues.

Sorry, but I don’t use “free” as a criteria for protecting my valuable data.
I don’t use “free” as a criteria for finding a doctor or lawyer either.
I use Acronis True Image Home and don’t plan to switch. It has saved my butt many times over the years.
