UCLA FATA Online Box Office Redesign

As part of my Information Architecture class in 2009, we conducted a redesign proposal for the UCLA Film and Television Archive. My team was focused on the Online Box Office.

We produced a 45 page report detailing the box office’s process flow, user profiles, competitive analysis, and usability report of the online box office. Key objectives were to :

• Evaluate the current state of users’ purchasing experience on the Online Box Office.
• Make recommendations to optimize and streamline the ticket buying experience to increase revenue.
• Explore the use of social networking and the web 2.0 environment.
• Improve customer loyalty to the UCLA Film & Television Online Box Office by
  improving the overall purchasing experience of the website.

Digital Motion Picture Archive Framework Project

In 2009 was graciously given the opportunity to intern at the Academy of Motion Pictures, Arts & Sciences SciTech Council. I participated in the Digital Motion Picture Archive Framework Project. This joint project between AMPAS and NDIIP aimed to investigate the real world challenges in the development of a digital preservation system for digital motion picture films.

Not only was I able to work on high level systems design and information architecture, I had the opportunity to display some of my graphical prowess and create some diagrams that were published in the supporting case study publication and presentations. The case study publication was titled Long-Term Management and Storage of Digital Motion Picture Materials. The case study can be downloaded via the case study page.

I also contributed towards taxonomy development, asset cataloging, and crossmapping of digital motion picture metadata file formats (Cineon, OpenEXR, & DPX). My excel file of the crosswalk can be found here.

The Hill

I had the wonderful opportunity to be part of the first ever Hill event by INHERITANCE Magazine. I helped coordinate volunteer staff, but also was able to contribute, share ideas, and be a part of the creative design team.

I was asked to simplify some great poster ideas from Brian Chung’s poster and develop some wireframes for the website. Sadly, we didn’t use either design.
